Fallen Skies

Synopsis

This film chronicles the passage of a young bi-polar woman through the psychiatric system. Much like Winona Ryder's "Girl, Interrupted," Fallen Skies begins in the home of this extremely wealthy yet troubled young lady with the mental disorder bi-polar. She is a functioning patient in the system, taking medication, and living a normal life, until something tragic happens to her baby sister and Jenna (our protagonist) takes the blame for the mishap. Evidently, the details appear muddy as to reveal whether Jenna is guilty or not. Regardless our non-partisan victim of consequence is sentenced to the psychiatric ward at a harsh mental facility out of town. She is numbed by the medication, thrown into solitary confinement, and encounters numerous lunatics in her trials. Jenna is sent to an alternate crazy house, there her second institution serves as her channel to freedom. Jenna befriends a gentle, understanding therapist there and is taught to free herself of her confinement and make it back to freedom after a year in the looney bin. Jenna eventually sees the light and makes her escape from the system. What catches us for a loop is the ending - The audience never finds out if she is guilty or not. Psychological thriller.
