Billy:
Young teens to 20s. Shy wallflower who loves rap music in the eighties. She metamorphosizes into a rap star, and sheds her introverted persona. She goes after deceased sister's baby-daddy.

Stix:
Young teens to 20s. Comedic, awkward and very much in love with his childhood friend, Billy. Part of the rap group trio.

Princess:
Young 20s. Her name explains it all. This spoiled, stuck up older sister of Billy thinks that she's all that, but really has no talent. She gets pregnant by the third member of the trio, Jacob. Immediately after her child is born, princess has a diabetic attack and dies on the OT.

Jacob:
Previous foster child has been shuffled around all his life. When he lands at the same Philly High School as the rest of the gang, they decide after a talent show to form a group. As the group takes off into fame, Jacob has a hard time handling the pressure and turns to alcohol and drug abuse. Manipulates Billy into falling for him, abuses her and then runs away.
